My name is Amelia, I'm 18 and studying to teach your children how to count.
I really like pretty things and my heart is to big for my own good.

There is a mind under this hat.

Week 1: Exploring the world of books and beyond

28/02/12

I enjoyed writing as a third person. It is an interesting and engaging activity that allows us to look at things differently. I think it encourages us to write in a different style and would be a positive writing activity to do with our students. An activity could be for students to read a piece written in first person and re write it in the third person perspective. They could further the activity by performing i as a role play in that style.

She rushed from the train, her bag slipping off her shoulder, and her shoelace coming lose. Her eyes were heavy and dry and she had coffee on her mind as she hurriedly made her way back to Brunswick, back to learning and back to reality. Holidays are over! As she bowled into class, it had just started… She blushed as people briefly looked up from what they were doing and up at her. Wendy was already discussing the class activity and her head was spinning. She watched the movie with concentration and picked up the book making activity pretty quickly, although she has trouble with writing and spelling, she is good with her hands and enjoys utilising her creativity. Although the crafting of the book was easy for her, she just couldn’t think of what to write about inside. She stared blankly at the page, waiting for an idea to jump onto the page. She looked up the clock, and back to her page and continued this ritual for an unnecessary amount of time. Just a good idea and she will be fine and ready to go, it’s just getting started. It seems to always be the same with writing. She decided on writing a travel book to Japan, as she had only just returned from there, and in a way her mind was still there.

On the train journey home she gazed out the window and thought about the coming weeks. She was excited to get back into work, and get her mind active again.
